Bio and Artist’s statement
My way to the world of art was quite winding. In 2007 I got accepted to Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, where I studied art fundamentals and fashion design. However, my interests were broader than art. I also discovered strong interest in analytical psychology, mythology and religious symbolism. In 2010 I realised that I want to change my career path. I enrolled in Higher School of Economics where I studied in depth psychology. It seemed like art was left in the past, but life had other plans. In 2017 my family moved to Germany and I got a chance to return to my art path. It looks like these 7 years are lost, but that’s not true. They have become an inner journey to the deepest parts of my soul which has resulted into a new artistic vision, where my own dreams and spiritual experiences play the crucial role. Through my artworks I try to express my vision of sacred powers of nature and dreams.
My paintings invite the viewer to dive into the fantastic realms, into my own worlds inhabited by witches, wizards and mythological creatures. I’m most inspired and moved by old legends and fairy tales, as well as modern fantasy novels and fiction books. I also like to read about different symbols and their meaning and later on I usually bring this knowledge in my artworks. I think that my love to Klimt’s aesthetic as well as British Victorian painters such as Waterhouse has also influenced my style.
I never stop learning and experimenting with medium. Currently I work both digitally and traditionally and incorporate the best from this experience into my illustrations and deigns.
As a traditional artist I like to experiment with medium mixing magical watercolour effect with clear graphic lines made by coloured pencils, inks and sometimes a gold leaf.
Currently I work as an independent artist. My paintings are held in private collections in Russia, United States, Germany and Ukraine.
